I don’t usually take photos like this, least of all post them. But I wanted to get this across, and I felt this was the most effective way. People are beautiful no matter what size they are. Skinny, short, tall, obese - whatever. We have scars and freckles and birth marks and hair or lack of hair and all sorts of things that make us different.
A friend of mine is dealing with some serious body image issues, and it’s pushing him to do horrible things to himself. When people will do literally anything to be thin, something is horribly wrong. Strive to love yourself for how you are; don’t only love yourself because you’ve lost a few pounds.
I’ve had body image issues most of my life, but you know what? Screw it. I’m healthy and I’m happy and I know myself.
I will never fit society’s made up standard of beauty; this is my own standard, and this is me.
EDIT. To all the hate going around regarding this picture, I just want to share something with you: I was called fat almost every day of my life growing up. I had things spat at me on the bus, I was called terrible names, and I had ZERO friends for a nice chunk of time. Maybe you can’t see that here, or maybe you’re comparing me to others, but there isn’t some double standard here; I can still say “FUCK THE SOCIETAL STANDARD,” despite what you see. Fuck it. Fuck it all to hell. I’m not going to sit back and allow you all to call me down for posting this just because I don’t fit YOUR standard of imperfection. Considering I felt horrible about my body image for a good 19 years of my life, I think I’m WELL entitled to make this. SO, there’s that.
